How is Wegovy administered?

Wegovy (semaglutide) is given as a once-weekly injection under the skin (subcutaneous), usually in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. It is supplied in a prefilled, single-use pen designed for self-injection after training from a healthcare professional. In the UK, patients are commonly taught how to use the pen within specialist weight management services or by a trained prescriber. To minimise skin irritation, you should rotate injection sites each week.

Treatment starts with a low dose that increases gradually over several weeks to improve tolerability, following the schedule in the Patient Information Leaflet and your prescriber’s plan. Injections can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, but should be on the same day each week. If you miss a dose, follow the official missed-dose instructions in the medicine leaflet or as advised by your prescriber.
