What serious side effects should you watch for with Wegovy?
Serious side effects with Wegovy are uncommon, but it’s important to know the warning signs and seek urgent medical help if they occur. Watch for severe, persistent upper abdominal pain that may spread to the back, with or without vomiting or fever, as this can indicate pancreatitis; this is a medical emergency. Seek help immediately for signs of a severe allergic reaction (sudden facial, lip, tongue or throat swelling; difficulty breathing; wheezing; fast heartbeat; dizziness or fainting). Be alert for possible thyroid problems such as a new neck lump, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or breathing, and for gallbladder or kidney issues such as severe tummy pain, jaundice (yellowing of skin/eyes), very dark urine, or reduced urination; if these occur, contact NHS 111 or emergency services in the UK.
